Suggested Equipment List

  • Trekking is done in cold, high, and remote areas. So we need different clothing and equipment for trekking. Most of the things needed for trekking are available in Kathmandu and Pokhara.

    Clothing for Trekking

    • Trekking or good walking shoes make your walk easier and more comfortable.
    • A track suit and a pair of lightweight shoes or sandals to wear in tea houses and camp at night.
    • Two pairs of woolen and cotton socks for trekking.
    • warm down jacket and a rainproof jacket with a hood for protection from rain.
    • woolen hat for the cold and a sun hat for sunny days.
    • A pair of woolen gloves
    • Two cotton T-shirts and two pairs of fitted long shorts or skirts
    • Woolen shirts and thick sweaters as well as wind and water-proof trousers
    • One light or heavy weight pair of trousers and one light weight long sleeve shirt
    • Thermal undergarments for cold temperatures
  • Equipment for Trekking

    • trekking or duffle bag to carry trekking gear.
    • trekking daypack for personal carrying materials.
    • sleeping bag for cold weather.
    • water purification tablet and water bottle.
    • snow and sun glasses, walking poles and umbrella
    • Small torch light and head light with spare batteries
    • Sunblock lotion for skin and lips
    • Handkerchiefs or hand wipes
    • Money belt and first-aid kit
    • Reading materials, notebook, trekking maps, binoculars, pens, camera, I-Phone, pocket knife, games like cards, chess, etc.


    • Trekking equipment and clothing are available in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Holiday Tours Nepal can recommend shops with reasonable prices. If you do not want to buy it, you can easily rent what you need at reasonable prices.

    Items for River

    • River sandals
    • Shorts or a swimming costume
    • A baseball style cap, good sunglasses, and quality sunscreen

    Shells and insulators :

    • Windproof & water-proof outerwear, jacket & pants (gortex or nylon). Fleece jacket/sweater (wool or synthetic only for the winter season)

    Clothes

    • Long sleeve t-shirt/turtlenecks (synthetic)
    • Short sleeve t-shirts
    • Several pairs of thick socks (wool or synthetic) with thin liners (synthetic)
    • Lightweight long underwear, top & bottom (polypropylene or "capilene")
    • wide brim hat (straw type beach hat or synthetic outdoors) to sunburn
    • protection on the face, ears, and neck , underwear, etc.

    footwear

    • 1-pair of new-condition lightweight walking/running shoes with textured soles.

    Other Items:

    • quality sleeping bag and sleeping pad. For those who don't have it, they can rent it easily in Kathmandu or Pokhara.
    • Lightweight clothing such as pants, shorts, cotton underwear, t-shirts, swim wear
    • light weight long sleeved shirt or t-shirt and a fleece style jacket
    • Toiletries (environmentally friendly is best)
    • Flashlight with spare batteries & bulbs
    • A couple of handkerchiefs
    • Pocket knife
    • Stuff sacks
    • Biodegradable soap
    • Hand towel
    • Feminine hygiene items, including plastic bags to pack out dirty items,
    • lighter or matches (for toilet paper and candles).
    • Spare eyeglasses or contact lenses (Due to the ease of getting eye infections, care should be taken when using contacts. Disposable contact lenses replaced frequently can lessen the risk of eye inflections.
    • Hard shell water bottle; one 2-liter or two 1-liter bottles ("Nalgene" or Manmade Metal) that will not melt while adding hot boiled water.
    • Emergency contact information ; Personal medical kit
