Chitwan national park is listed in UNESCO world heritage site and is the first national park in Nepal.

It covers an area of 932 km2 and is located in the subtropical Inner Terai lowlands of south-central Nepal. It is one of Nepal’s popular tourist destinations for the best wildlife viewing national parks in Asia.

Chitwan national park is the best place to experience Jungle Safari in Nepal. You can reach there in about 5-6 hour by land and 20 min flight from Kathmandu and about 4-5 hours by land from Pokhara. This National park is famous for rare wildlife such as bangle tiger and one horn rhino.

Chitwan national park is a habitat of more than 43 species of mammals, 450 species of birds and more than 45 species of amphibians and reptiles. The Park is especially renowned for the protection of the endangered one-horned rhinoceros, bangle tiger, and gharial crocodile along with many other common species of wild animals. Among the endangered birds found in the park are Bengal Florican, giant hornbill, lesser florican, black stork and white stork. The best time for bird watching is March and December in this national park. You can experience wildlife in Chitwan national park staying in one of the luxury lodges located on the edge of the park away from the crowds at Sauraha.

Unfortunately, the government has stopped the luxury lodges to operate inside the park in 2012. Most of the lodges have developed alternative lodges just outside the national park boundaries. You can also enjoy the elephant ride and jungle safari in a jeep. You can visit elephant breeding center located in Sauraha. There are often small baby elephants and the small museum. Other activities you can do during this trip are river boating and canoeing in Chitwan and Elephant bathing. There is no particular time to explore the Chitwan national park but September to May consider as the best month to travel.

Chitwan national park offers interesting sites and different day’s activities. Holiday Tours Nepal will help you to make all your trip arrangements as per your interest and timing. This National park is ideal for wildlife and also preserves an element of mystery for humans. There is always a possibility of making new discoveries.
